The primary goal of Ofnibus is to organize traveling archive residencies in partnership with audiovisual heritage conservation structures. With the help of equipment from Filmfabriek the association collects and digitises amateur cinema in France. Their press pages shows a lot of examples, which were scanned with an Filmfabriek HDS scanner.
In May 2023 a disastrous flood hit Emilia Romagna (IT). This disaster also affected a film archive. This video is about the rescue of the 8mm and super8 reels of a family from Forlì (IT).
RI-PRESE was asked to offer help in saving as much film as possible. The mission is managed by RI-PRESE memory keepers in collaboration with the Italian association Re-framing home movies and with the Luav University of Venice. The films were saved using the archival Film scanner HDS by Filmfabriek.

In 2022 FilmFabriek will expand it’s product line to include a new smart and affordable wetgate pump. The wet gate system is a necessity for those with old damaged film as it does a remarkable job of removing scratches. Historically automated wetgate systems have been very expensive, however this new solution is both efficient and very cost effective. The Pictor is the world’s first 8mm film scanner equipped with a wetgate!
We offer two models: The Pictor HD and the Pictor Pro. The Pictor HD does 1920×1080 (overscan) and comes with the wetgate module. The Pictor Pro offers 2K resolutions on the frame and does offer overscan as well. Next to that the Pro version offers audio capture. The wetgate module is included as well. Both models offer scanning speeds up to 25 fps.
